Welcome to FIRST Team 1023, Bedford Express!
We are FIRST robotics team 1023, Bedford Express, and we are delightfully starting our 10th year in the FRC program. Each year we get a new challenge and through the years there have been a variety of themes from soccer to the moon and back. This year our challenge is called Rebound Rumble and yes, you guessed it, it’s all about basketball.
We’ve been competing for 10 years now, but what you don’t know is what we have accomplished. In our first year, in 2003, we won the Rookie All-Star award which honors a rookie team on outstanding work outside of just the robot competition. An award very similar to this is the Chairman’s award. It recognizes a veteran team who does outstanding work in helping their community, raising awareness of FIRST robotics, and promoting science and technology to young students and inspiring them to pursue STEM careers. It is the most prestigious award in the FIRST program. Last year we won this award for the first time in our history. We won it at the district and states level and competed for it at the worlds level. In 2010 we won our first competition last year we won our second in a row. We received 6 awards last year, none of these could’ve been possible without the help of our amazing mentors, coaches, past team members and of course our wonderful sponsors!
